Our Story
When Jordan and Audrey Frazier moved back to Memphis in 2023, they knew God was calling them to plant a church in the city. For them, in the city meant one thing. When living in Memphis previously, the Fraziers felt most at home in North Memphis, specifically in the Greenlaw neighborhood. In so many ways, North Memphis has been forgotten about in development and in representation throughout the city, but God has not forgotten about North Memphis. The unique neighborhoods of Greenlaw, Bearwater, Smokey City, New Chicago, and Klondike deserve to be highlighted as valuable neighborhoods that contribute to the uniqueness and charm of Memphis as a whole.
Planting a church in North Memphis has never been about growing large or being the new booming, popular, “It” church. The vision from the beginning is to be a church that our neighbors in North Memphis would feel welcome in and a church that cares deeply about its surrounding community, working hard to prove God’s goodness and grace to our neighbors.
In partnership with a local congregation, Island Community Church that had a heart to send out a team to plant a new church in a neighborhood they cared about, Northside Community Church was born.
In the early winter of 2023 into the spring of 2024, a small group of people called by God committed to be sent out of their previous church home to invest in planting Northside Community Church.
The vision from the beginning has been to gather a community of people changed by Jesus to foster justice, hope, and mercy in North Memphis.
